Abu Dhabi – The Quantum Industry Day, organized under the banner of the QInnovision Consortium, concluded on November 19, 2024. Spearheaded and co-organized by Vernewell Group and the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS) at New York University Abu Dhabi, the event featured presentations and a workshop by IBM Quantum. This initiative is a cornerstone of QInnovision’s Quantum Technology Adoption Program (QTAP), a strategic effort to advance the integration and practical use of quantum technologies across industries.
The Quantum Industry Day, held on a monthly basis, exemplified QInnovision’s mission to bridge cutting-edge quantum research and industry application. This initiative reflects Vernewell Group and CQTS’s shared mission to drive quantum awareness, adoption, and application. Through QTAP, QInnovision is spearheading efforts to position quantum technologies as practical tools for solving complex industry challenges in sectors like finance, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy.
Educational Insights: Setting the Record Straight
The day began with an educational session led by IBM’s Engineer Predrag Lucic, designed to set the scene, present IBM’s quantum computing leadership globally. A significant portion of the Quantum Industry Day was dedicated to addressing and clarifying common misconceptions about quantum computing. This essential session, delivered by IBM Quantum experts, set the tone for the day by providing attendees with a realistic and practical understanding of quantum technology.
The discussion focused on demystifying quantum computing, particularly distinguishing between its current capabilities and its long-term potential. Participants learned how quantum complements, rather than replaces, classical computing, and why its value lies in solving specific, complex challenges that are intractable for traditional methods.
This foundational conversation not only dispelled prevailing myths but also aligned participants with the practical realities of quantum computing today. By grounding attendees in accurate knowledge, the session established a solid framework for exploring deeper applications and innovations later in the program.
Such an approach ensured that participants, from industry leaders to decision-makers and academicians, were equipped with the right context to appreciate the transformative potential of quantum solutions, both now and in the future.
Mrs. Malak Trabelsi Loeb, Founder and President of Vernewell Group, emphasized the significance of this initiative: “Quantum computing is often surrounded by both hype and misunderstanding. Our goal through QTAP is to provide industries with not just knowledge, but actionable clarity. November session with IBM Quantum experts ensured attendees were prepared to explore how quantum can impact their sectors meaningfully.”
Industry Engagement, Quantum Use Cases, and Practical Applications
A key segment of the Quantum Industry Day was the detailed presentation and exploration of industry-specific quantum use cases, followed by a workshop on IBM’s quantum tools and frameworks. This portion of the event’s program highlighted how quantum computing is addressing challenges in sectors such as logistics, healthcare, and finance , offering participants a clear pathway to understand its transformative potential.
The presentation highlightted real-world applications, demonstrating the practical ways quantum computing are being applied to optimize supply chains, advance drug discovery, enhance risk modeling in finance, and drive sustainability efforts. The presented examples showcased the unique value quantum computing brings to solving problems that classical systems struggle to address.
Following the presentation, attendees explored IBM’s QISKIT framework, gaining insights into how quantum tools can be aligned with specific industry needs. Guided discussions allowed participants to see the connections between the theoretical advancements and their practical implementation, equipping them with the knowledge to begin exploring quantum opportunities within their own organizations.
This session reflected the broader goals of the QTAP, emphasizing the importance of actionable insights and practical engagement to foster quantum integration across industries.

Professor Hisham Sati, Director of CQTS, underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing quantum adoption: “The Quantum Industry Day exemplifies the impact of bringing together academia, industry, and leading technology innovators. By combining IBM’s expertise with our commitment to advancing quantum research and education, we are shaping a foundation for real-world integration and innovation.”
Outcomes and Strategic Impact
The event achieved its primary objectives of driving awareness, enabling hands-on exploration, and fostering cross-sector collaboration. Key outcomes included:
- Enhanced Understanding: Participants left with a clear grasp of quantum computing’s role in addressing specific challenges within their industries.
- Practical Insights: Through interactive sessions, attendees gained tools to evaluate and adopt quantum solutions.
- Collaborative Growth: The event strengthened connections across sectors, laying the groundwork for a growing community dedicated to drive QTAP’s mission forward.
Looking Forward: Sustaining the Momentum
The Quantum Industry Day is part of QTAP’s Industry Quantum Day series, which will continue to deliver monthly engagements that deepen understanding and facilitate quantum adoption. Each session builds on the last, ensuring sustained progress toward Vernewell Group and CQTS’s shared vision of advancing quantum innovation.
By leveraging IBM Quantum’s expertise and the strategic vision of QTAP, the QInnovision Consortium is fostering an ecosystem where quantum technologies can thrive, empowering industries to innovate and excel.
